Insurance & billing

Insurance and direct billing in North York.

We submit the claim so you do not have to. Most patients pay little or nothing at the desk — we confirm exactly what your plan covers before treatment begins.

How it works

Three steps, and none of them involve a claim form.

Paying up front and chasing reimbursement is the part everyone dreads. We removed it.

1 · Bring your details

Your policy and member number, and the plan holder’s name if the coverage is through a spouse or parent. For WSIB or a car accident, your claim number. Your insurance and health information is handled under Ontario’s health privacy law (PHIPA) and used only to confirm coverage and bill your plan.

2 · We confirm your coverage

Before treatment starts, not after. You will know what your plan pays and what, if anything, is left for you — so there is no surprise at the desk.

3 · We bill the insurer

The claim goes directly to your provider. Where your plan covers the visit in full, you pay nothing. Where it covers part, you pay only the difference.

Extended health plans

Insurers we bill directly.

Physiotherapy, chiropractic, registered massage therapy and acupuncture are covered under most extended health plans. Coverage varies by policy, so we always confirm yours before your first treatment.

Not on the list?

Call us at 647.710.6927 with your provider’s name. Many plans outside this list can still be billed directly, and some employers use a third-party administrator under a different name than the insurer you expect. We will tell you before you book rather than after you are treated.

Where direct billing is not available, we give you a receipt formatted for your insurer so your own claim goes through without being sent back.

Injured at work

WSIB claims, billed directly.

We treat approved Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims and bill the WSIB directly. Bring your claim number to your first visit.

What you pay

For an approved claim, nothing. WSIB-funded physiotherapy and chiropractic care are billed to the board, not to you.

If your claim is still pending

Call us. Waiting on adjudication does not have to mean waiting on treatment — there are usually options, including starting under your extended health plan and reconciling once the claim is approved.

After a collision

Auto insurance, and the rule that changed this summer.

In Ontario, treatment after a motor vehicle accident is covered through your own auto insurer under statutory accident benefits — regardless of who was at fault. We complete the OCF-1, OCF-18 and OCF-23 forms for you.

Your work benefits stay intact

Since 1 July 2026, auto insurance pays first for medical and rehabilitation benefits after a collision — medication costs aside. Your workplace plan is no longer billed first, so that annual paramedical allowance stays available for treatment unrelated to the accident.

Still in every Ontario policy

  • Medical benefits
  • Rehabilitation benefits
  • Attendant care

Several other accident benefits became optional on 1 July 2026, but the medical and rehabilitation coverage that pays for treatment here remains mandatory.

Worth knowing

Two things patients ask us most.

No referral needed

In Ontario, physiotherapists and chiropractors are primary care practitioners, so you can book directly with us. Some extended health plans still ask for a referral before they reimburse — that is a rule of your policy, not of the clinic, and it is worth checking yours first.

Benefits reset annually

Most plans reset their paramedical allowance on 1 January, though some follow the employer’s benefit year instead. Unused coverage rarely carries over. If you have been putting off treatment, the last quarter of your benefit year is the moment to use what you have already paid for.

Common questions

Answers before you book.

What does direct billing actually mean?

It means we submit the claim to your insurer for you and they pay us directly, so you do not pay the full amount up front and wait weeks for reimbursement. Where your plan covers the visit in full, you pay nothing at the desk. Where it covers part of it, you pay only the remainder.

Which insurers does iBODY direct bill?

We direct bill Sun Life, Canada Life, Green Shield Canada, Blue Cross, Desjardins Insurance, iA Financial Group, Empire Life, Equitable Life, ClaimSecure, TELUS AdjudiCare and LiUNA union plans. We also bill WSIB for approved workplace claims and auto insurers for motor vehicle accident treatment. If your provider is not on this list, call us at 647.710.6927 — many plans can still be billed directly, and we will confirm before you book.

What do I need to bring to my first visit?

Your insurance policy number and member or certificate number, the name of the plan holder if the plan is through a spouse or parent, and a piece of photo identification. For a WSIB claim, bring your claim number. For a car accident, bring your claim number and adjuster contact if you have them. Our front desk confirms exactly what your plan covers before treatment begins.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Not to see us. In Ontario, physiotherapists and chiropractors are primary care practitioners, so you can book directly. Some extended health plans do still require a referral before they will reimburse, which is a rule of your insurance policy rather than a rule of the clinic — worth checking your specific plan before your first visit.

What if my plan does not cover the full amount?

We tell you the difference before treatment starts, not after. Many plans cover a set dollar amount per year or a percentage per visit, and some cap the number of visits. We check your remaining balance where the insurer makes it available to us, so you can plan your course of treatment rather than discovering a limit halfway through.

Is treatment covered after a car accident?

In most cases yes. Ontario’s statutory accident benefits cover physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy and related rehabilitation after a collision through your own auto insurer, regardless of who was at fault. We complete the OCF-1, OCF-18 and OCF-23 forms on your behalf and deal with the insurer directly.

Will a car accident claim use up my work benefits?

No — and this changed recently. Since 1 July 2026, auto insurance pays first for medical and rehabilitation benefits after a collision in Ontario, with medication costs the exception. Your workplace extended health plan is not billed first, so your annual paramedical allowance stays available for massage, physiotherapy or acupuncture unrelated to the accident.

Do you bill WSIB?

Yes. We treat approved WSIB claims and bill the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board directly. Bring your claim number to your first visit. If your claim is still being adjudicated, call us and we will explain your options rather than leaving you to wait.
