What Happens After a Car Accident in Ontario? A Rehab Guide

A patient-friendly overview of assessment, rehabilitation, OCF paperwork and insurer communication after a motor vehicle collision.

After a motor vehicle collision, the rehabilitation process can feel confusing because physical symptoms and insurance paperwork often happen at the same time. The first step is to seek appropriate medical attention for urgent symptoms and then contact the clinic when you are ready to discuss rehabilitation.

Assessment comes before the treatment plan

A regulated practitioner assesses your symptoms, movement and functional limitations. The recommended rehabilitation plan is based on that assessment rather than on a one-size-fits-all package.

OCF paperwork and insurer communication

Ontario auto-insurance rehabilitation may involve OCF forms and insurer review. A clinic can help with the rehabilitation paperwork and communication process, but the insurer determines claim and treatment approvals.

Coverage is individual

Treatment is not automatically guaranteed simply because a collision occurred. Coverage depends on the individual claim, assessment, treatment plan and insurer decisions. Sensitive policy and claim information should be shared privately with clinic staff.
